Independent bookshop week 2024

It’s that time of year again! As we head into Indie Bookshop Week 2024 we wanted to share three of our favourite resources for supporting local indie bookshops at home and wherever you might be travelling.

(1) Find Your Local with Bookshop Maps

Our collaboration with the University of Sussex's Business of Women's Words project has highlighted the vital role maps can play in connecting us with local bookshops and activities.

The maps created by the Big Bearded Bookseller provide a great jumping off point for exploring the indie bookshop landscap in the UK. This map for England shows over 700 bookshops across the country.

You can also check out maps for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland on their website here.

(2) Shop online at Bookshop.org

Bookshop.org is an online bookshop with a mission to financially support
local, independent bookshops. They seek to help strengthen the fragile ecosystem around bookselling and keep local bookshops an integral part of our culture and communities. Choose a bookshop to support from their map and they’ll receive 30% of the cover price on your orders for a year.

(3) Get your audiobooks at Libro.fm

Libro.fm is an employee-owned Social Purpose Corporation that shares profits from your audiobook purchases with your chosen bookshop. Libro.fm partners with more than 3,000 bookshops around the world to sell audiobooks and has members in 60 countries and counting.

How will you be championing your indie bookshop this week? Tell us in the comments.

Thank you so much for reading and we can’t wait to see you
