The Beginning of May marks Deaf Awareness Week in the U.K., and to celebrate we wanted to highlight deaf authors and stories.
True Biz by Sara Novic follows a year of seismic romantic, political, and familial shifts for a teacher and her students at a boarding school for the deaf. This is a story of sign language and lip-reading, disability and civil rights, isolation and injustice, first love and loss, and, above all, great persistence, daring, and joy.
This month's in-person meetup will take place on Wednesday the 31st of May, and our online discussion (via Zoom) will take place on Thursday the 1st of June. See our events page for more info.
